Structure

Year 1: You will be introduced to experimentation within art making practices and theoretical issues. Through practical drawing projects, the use of work in museums and galleries, you will be encouraged to gain introductory knowledge of a broad range of historical and contemporary models of art practice. You will experience a number of workshop inductions and develop research skills, which will support your emerging studio practice.

Year 2: You will continue to experiment and develop, working with parallel strands of enquiry, progressing towards a greater focus as the year proceeds. Professional studies include a work placement or project that will enable you to align your practice with the professional world. You will take an elective unit, selected from a broad range of options to enhance your core subject of study.

Year 3: You will further develop your practice, realising a focused body of work, which will be presented as the final degree examination. You will also negotiate an appropriate balance of practical and theoretical work in the final assessment weighting and present a dissertation or equivalent alongside the final exhibition.
