About this course

- Have an understanding of the main factors that have made Florence so important in the Renaissance.
- Have an overview of the main artists that contributed to the creation of the use of perspective in painting
- Look and appreciate the significance of the notion of beauty in Renaissance Florence by looking at paintings and scultpures.

No other cost. Students will just need to bring a pen and paper.

Course programme

We will look at the creation of Florence as the city state; the importance of the Medici family as patrons of prominent artists and the great art developments such as the invention of perspective and the importance of the notion of ideas of beauty in painting and sculpture.

This is a lecture and is therefore tutor-led. Facts will be presented through the use of video clips, presentations, hand-outs etc.
