Course programme

The St Monica Trust has developed a range of courses to promote health and safety best practice with a specific focus on the issues and situations facing employees in a care home and social care environment.

The course programme has been developed to meet the core needs of the first aider in the workplace. The candidate will receive a current version of a first aid manual and a minimum of 28 hours contact time, which includes training in the following:

  • Communication in an emergency.
  • Scene management.
  • Recognition of illness.
  • Record keeping.
  • Personal hygiene.
  • HIV and Hepatitis B/C in first aid.
  • Adult resuscitation.
  • Control of severe bleeding and the recognition and treatment of shock.
  • Managing the unconscious person.
  • Burns and scalds.
  • Injuries to bones and soft tissue.
  • Minor injuries.
  • Eye irrigation.
  • Poisoning.
  • Transport of casualties.

4 full days – NB: All 4 days must be attended.
Full day courses usually run from 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

Additional information

Payment options: £60 per day per person. Payment can be made by monthly instalments for any invoice in excess of £350.
