Course programme

The Course
Under Health and Safety rules:

  • All students must attend all four days
  • There will be an assessment on the fourth day
  • Although the course lasts for four days, these days DO NOT have to run consecutively. However the course must be completed within twelve weeks.

The Course Content
The content of the course is set by the Health and Safety Executive as a minimum standard.

Added to this are sections dealing with a variety of other medically orientated situations and medical emergencies.

This is the only first aid course approved by the health and safety executive.
This 4-day course offers a basic curriculum in a range of first aid competencies needed in any workplace giving our students the ability to administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty.

And includes training in:

  • How to act in the event of an emergency
  • CPR ( cardio-pulmonary resuscitation )
  • Unconscious casualty
  • Wounds & bleeding
  • Burns & scolds
  • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints
  • Shock
  • Eye injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Dealing with a casualty overcome by gas and fumes
  • Transportation of a casualty
  • Recognize major and minor illnesses and take appropriate action

The certification can be renewed by participating in another first aid at work refresher course before the expiry date of the current certificate.
