This course is run in partnership with NDFA Training, who is a HSENI Approved Provider (131). This is the new HSENI Approved First Aid at Work (FAW) course which is suitable for anyone who has already completed the three day First Aid at Work (NI) course. Any delegate attending refresher training must have an in-date FAW Certificate to attend this course. If this has expired they will have to attend the initial FAW three day course. This course covers all of the wide variety of medical topics that enables the participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt safe and effective way.

About this course


This course is suitable for anyone who has already completed the three day First Aid at Work (NI) course. Any delegate attending refresher training must have an in-date FAW Certificate to attend this course. If this has expired they will have to attend the initial FAW three day course.


There is practical and theory based assessments and continuous evaluation throughout. All those deemed to have reached the required standard will be issued with a recognised HSE (NI) certificate in First Aid at Work which is valid for three years. This will need to be renewed by attending a two day re-qualification before the three years have expired. Any delegate attending refresher training must have an in-date FAW Certificate to attend this course. If this has expired they will have to attend the initial FAW three day course.

Additional information

A maximum of 12 can be accommodated on this course and must be aged 16 and above.

The Health and Safety Executive NI (HSENI) requires all delegates attending a requalification course to have a current and valid first aid certificate prior to attending. When your booking has been confirmed via email, please assist us by sending a scanned copy of your existing first aid certificate to info@doctrina.org.uk.  They also strongly recommend that those attending this course attend annual refresher training lasting 2-3 hours.  This is not compulsory BUT IS RECOMMENDED by the HSENI.  The initial First Aid at Work is over three days or 18 hours and the re-qualification is over two days or 12 hours.
