About this course

The only entry requirement is a keen interest in floristry. You will require good literacy, numeracy and communication skills to complete the course and you must be able to work well as part of a team as well as individually.
You will require normal writing materials and a lever arch file for your notes.

Floristry NPTC Level 2 National Certificate (2 Years)
Summary
This course aims to provide learners with the skills they need for a career in floristry. Working in the industry is included within the programme so that learners are suitably equiped for the workplace. The course takes place over two years.
About the Course
This course is assessed internally by externally set assignments. A multiple choice exam and a completed folder of work. The course consists of 11 units.
- Identification and processing of cut materials and pot plants
- Introduction to art and design for florists
- Introduction to plant processes and planted designs
- Introduction to hand tied and presentation floral designs
- Introduction to funeral and sympathy floral designs
- Design and construction of floral arrangements
- Simple floral wedding designs and accessories
- Display of floristy goods
- Introduction to working in the floristry industry
- Process, cost and evaluate floral designs
- Introduction to function decorating using floral displays
Course Aims

What are the entry requirements?
How is the course assessed?
The overall assessment method for the qualification is an externally assessed multiple choice exam on the GOLA computer system. The remaining units are internally assessed by standard externally set assignments. These include some practical activities.
Are there any resources to obtain?
You will require floristry scissors and knife, an apron, bucket and toolbox. These can be obtained from your tutor. The toolbox can be built up as the course progresses.

A Fee: £780.00, B Fee: £ 780.00, C Fee: £10.00
Are there any other costs?
As well as the cost of tools and sundries, there will be the weekly cost of flowers. This will vary from week to week, but please bear in mind fresh flowers are not always cheap. Every effort will be made to keep costs to a minimum where possible, but students must allow £20 per week for flowers and sundry items.
What facilities can be used on this course?
The facilities of a practical classroom will be available as will the use of computers.
What next?
This qualification equips the learner for a career in floristry as well as being part of a progression route from levels 2-5. It can follow on from the Level 1 Certificate in Landbased Studies (Floristry) and lead into the Level 3 Advanced National Certificate in Floristry.
