• The context of Vermeer’s Delft – society and politics, patrons etc.
• Overview of Vermeer’s life, work and legacy.
• Vermeer’s main influences, processes, techniques, development.
• Close readings and discussion of several key works including ‘The Girl with the Pearl Earring,’ ‘The Milkmaid’ and ‘Young Woman Seated at a Virginal.’.

You will be taught with a short lecture, slides, and discussions.
