Unit 1: FASD – The History of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
The following topics are covered: Definition of FASD; FASD and Abortion; What is Alcohol?; Alcohol Use; Alcohol Consumption in Pregnancy; and Measuring Alcohol Consumption.
Unit 2: Taking Responsibility for the Unborn Child
The following topics are covered: Candace Thorp v Jim Beam; FAS from Diagnosis to Current Day; The Difficulties of Diagnosing FASD; and Diagnostic Criteria.
Unit 3: Prenatal Alcohol Exposure and Screening
The following topics are covered: Screening for Alcohol Use (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (Audit) / The CAGE questionnaire / The T-ACE questionnaire); Other Factors Affecting FASD; In Utero Effects of Alcohol; and Risks During the 3 Trimesters.
Unit 4: Children with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)
The following topics are covered: Learning outcomes; Primary Disabilities; Neuropsychological Problems; Secondary Disabilities; Measuring Secondary Disabilities using VABS; and Measuring Adaptive & Maladaptive Behaviours.
Unit 5: Behavioural Phenotypes of FASD
