This course is designed to deliver the skills and knowledge required for a management career in the food industry. Typical students are currently employed in the food industry and wish to progress within their company and update their technical skills and knowledge.
Successful students often progress rapidly within their organisation and many food companies use this programme to train potential future managers. Alternatively you may be considering a change in career direction.
There is a skills shortage in the food industries and food companies are on the lookout for qualified personnel This is a modular course which can be studied at home, online or at College, leading with further study to Foundation Degree and Honours Degree awards.
You may register for the blended learning mode of study and study at home or in the work place using Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) software and the internet.
You should commit to studying independently and you will be offered formal lectures, practical sessions and assessment events while at college.

Length of the course
The distance learning and day release modes of study are typically completed within two years. The course is modular and completion time may be shorter depending on the rate of individual progress.

There are many different areas of employment in the food sector which offer interesting and challenging opportunities for progression and advancement. These include team leader, supervisory and management positions in food manufacture, distribution and retailing including new product development, marketing, laboratory testing, food hygiene, nutrition and dietetics, production management, food engineering, and quality assurance.
