Course programme
Whilst there are no formal entry requirements for this course, all applicants will need to undertake an initial assessment and interview to determine their ability to study at this level.
Course units will include: food safety management, food quality, food technology, food microbiology nutrition, diet and law. All students will also complete the core units of Study and Research Skills together with maths and English at the appropriate level to your abilities.
You will be assessed via a range of methods including essays, reports, presentations and lab experimentation.
Students can progress onto an Honours Degree, Higher National Diploma, Foundation Degree in a Food Technology or Food Science based subject, Dietetics, Applied Biosciences, Nutrition & Health, Food Manufacture, Education in Food & Nutrition, Food Marketing & Business Economics, Food Science & Microbiology and Health & Well-being. Bursaries may be available for further study in this area as the food industry has a shortage of skilled, qualified personnel.
