It is my first year, of winderful freshers experiences and i can really say that I am enjoying it and have met some great people. My advice for any prospective student would be to enjoy the uni lifestyle but keep on track with your work as things can get on top of each other if you do not. it is a great experience.

Full descriptionThis course will teach you to analyse and investigate a range of evidence at crime scenes and in the forensic laboratory. You’ll learn to identify the main types of forensic evidence for crimes such as sexual offences, drugs, poisons, arson and mass disaster.
Our teaching staff are practising forensic professionals, and under their guidance you’ll develop your skills in our simulated crime scene and labs. You’ll be able to choose from a wide range of module topics, giving you the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge.
By the time you graduate, you’ll have an understanding of the UK legal system and your role in it as a forensic scientist. You’ll be able to present your observations and conclusions as evidence in a court of law. You’ll also have learned how to conduct thorough, independent research, and feel confident about presenting comprehensive reports, both orally and in writing.
Our newly refurbished laboratories feature a range of equipment, including Raman Spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) Microspectrophotometry (MSP), various microscopes, a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), comparison microscope and various Gas Chromatography (GC) and Liquid-Chromatography (LC) instruments with different detection systems.
Our course is accredited by The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences so when you graduate, employers will recognise you as a qualified forensic scientist.
