Introduction:
This is a new qualification designed for individuals currently working in, or seeking employment within the administration sector. Foundation Degrees are new qualifications which allow greater flexibility in career development with guaranteed progression to an honours degree course for successful students.

Study Mode & Location:
This programme may be studied on a full-time or part-time basis. The full-time programme is studied over two years, whilst the part-time programme is studied over a three year period. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
You will undertake and complete a mixture of compulsory and optional modules which have been designed to:

  • Develop your planning and decision making skills.
  • Increase your understanding of the political, legal and economic environment in which organisations operate.
  • Develop your ability to manage people.
  • Focus on the importance of meeting the needs of customers.
  • Develop your ability to contribute to the process of managing financial resources.
  • Raise your awareness of different organisational structures and cultures.



As part of the programme you will complete a university module designed to to develop your IT skills in Windows applications.

Assessment:
Assessment will be carried out through a mixture of assignments, project reports, presentations, case study analysis and end of module examinations.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
This programme has been developed to meet the needs of the major functions in administration and has been developed with career progression and professional recognition in mind. Successful completion of the course provides an opportunity to `top-up` to a full honours degree at the University of Central Lancashire, such as the BA Business Management or BA Business Studies. You will also have the knowledge and skills necessary to progress to higher level administration work and management roles.
