The Foundation Degree can also be used as a stepping stone to Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) or the BA in Early Childhood Studies. Anglia Ruskin University welcomes CRC students to top up qualifications.
Students who have their Foundation Degree in Early years and Education have opened their own nurseries gained teaching qualifications, worked as Family Liaison Officers or worked in a range of other sector related careers.
• A passion for the wellbeing and rights of children is paramount.
• Level 3 qualification – this could be in a related subject such as Childcare, Health and Social Care or A Level but other Level 3 qualifications will be considered.
• GCSE English grade C (or grade 4) or good literacy skills.
• Applicants should either be working in an Early Years setting or willing to start employment or voluntary placement for at least two days a week.
All applicants must have a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) document.
We will consider a range of alternative qualifications or experience; please contact Toni Cushman to discuss individual requirements and for further information.
An initial discussion with the course tutor is essential. In many cases the County Early Years Partnerships may support the costs of this course. Please contact admissions by email at or by telephone 01223 418448.
In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a professional interview.
We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.
Each of the modules is formally assessed and a number of written formats are used: learning records, reflective practice reports, essays, focussed portfolios and action plans. Occasionally work is assessed through presentations, displays or demonstrations. Level 5 results contribute to the overall Degree classification. Students who are referred on assignments are normally given additional tutorial support and the opportunity to resubmit later.
