In this degree (50% French, 50% History), you will develop an in-depth knowledge of French language and culture and a multifaceted understanding of historical processes. It will allow you to tailor a coherent combination of modules focusing on a variety of areas ranging from French and Francophone literature, cinema and politics to, for instance, the history of the Renaissance, the modern history of Britain, France and Russia or the history of the wider world with modules on India and China. There is also a core language module in every year of study and this is complemented by a year spent in a French-speaking country, so your level of linguistic ability will match that of students doing single honours and you will graduate with joint honours in both History and French.
