French

France lies at the heart of much of Europe's history and civilisation. From the French Revolution to the European Union, the country's influence in shaping the political face of modern Europe has been immense. Today France rivals Britain as Europe's second largest economy. The French language is the key to understanding continental Europe. Whether for the purpose of business, government or cultural understanding, French is an essential ingredient.

Maths

Like any science, mathematics asks questions, sometimes uses experiments to suggest an answer and significantly uses logic to validate the conclusions. Some questions are concerned with applications, such as, "given a population (dynamical system, economy) and factors which influence it, what is its state at a subsequent time?" Others are more abstract, for example, "are there any common properties to the basic operations as used with numbers, matrices or vectors?" The study of Mathematics can answer these questions.

Maths

The aim of the Maths degree course at Aston University is to provide a thorough grounding in the basic principles of mathematics and to examine its applications to problems that can be modelled mathematically. Career prospects

French

Britain's increased involvement with the European Union has led to an ever-increasing demand for top-quality graduates with practical, near-native language skills and an in-depth knowledge of other countries and their business and communication cultures. They require an expertise in contemporary, social, economic and political issues as well as the ability to work comfortably and competently in a variety of media. As one of our graduates you will match these criteria fully. Recent graduates have entered careers in UK and international business/marketing, the languages and communications professions, education, European institutions and research. Career prospects for languages graduates in the UK are proven to be better than those studying IT, Business, Management and Economics degrees. Most UK languages students enter careers in areas such as Business, Marketing, Administration, Banking and Retail Management.
