This course aims to strengthen your elementary knowledge of French. You will learn new structures and vocabulary around different topics to express yourself in everyday situations. The emphasis is on speaking and listening.

Please note that the above outcomes are flexible as the pace of the lessons will depend on the achievements of the group of students.

Based on the course book The French Experience 1, (BBC) new edition 2003.. You may want to buy the CDs with the book although this is not compulsory as the tutor will provide listening activities throughout the course. Please note that the course book is used as a support only. You will not cover all the activities in the book during the course.

Course programme

Topics: Describe situation in the present and in the past such as leisures and free time, memories of childhood and teenage. Discover French gastronomie

Grammar: consolidation of the present, comparatives, introduction to the imperfect and passe compose, articles adjectives and adverbs.

The course is based on the communicative approach: - active students’ interaction - emphasis on speaking and listening skills - pair and group work - role plays - use of realia, pictures and authentic material - use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.
