Creativity is one of the most ubiquitous words we encounter today. Creativity fuels innovation, keeps us mentally healthy, it entertains and instigates change. But what exactly does it mean to be creative, and how can creativity be enhanced and harnessed?
In this one off talk as part of the Art History Friday Lates lecture series, cultural theorist and educator Ian Tucknott explores the theory and practice of creativity. Using examples from the history of art, philosophy and science as well as the speaker’s own experiences in the context of art practice and education, you will explore numerous approaches to defining this often abstract human quality, and determine why the pursuit of creativity and the enhancement of our creative abilities is vital for the future.
