About this course
You will need the motivation and ability to benefit from the course. Students should have a mature attitude and have had a significant break in their education. You will be required to attend an informal interview for the course, during which your literacy and numeracy skills will be assessed and you must achieve the colleges required standard in literacy.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
The purpose of this course is to prepare you for entry to university. You will be working at A-level standard, studying specific subjects as well as learning essential study skills to enable you to succeed at degree level. It is aimed at mature learners and is a nationally recognised course. It is welcomed by Higher Education, including local universities: DeMontfort, Leicester and Northampton.
Social Work courses in Higher Education usually require substantial voluntary or paid work experience. For further information regarding the entry requirements at university including any GCSE's, please contact the university admissions department directly.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will study a combination of Compulsory and Optional units

WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
You will need to obtain a minimum of 60 credits, 45 of which must be at Level 3 (A Level equivalent). On successful completion of the course you will gain an Access to Higher Education Diploma accredited by Open College Network East Midlands Region. (OCNEMR).
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
Full time - (3L101-09) - You will need to attend college for approximately 17 hours per week. In addition you are advised to spend 10-15 hours per week on coursework at home or in college. Your classroom hours will usually be between 9.30 am and 3.00 pm.
Part time - (3L501-09) -This course may be studied over 2 years and you would attend college for approximately 8 hours per week and need to spend 5-7 hours per week on coursework. (This option is more expensive - see cost section).
