  • Wood
  • Metal
  • Plastics
  • Ceramics
We approach 3D making from both a fine art and product design perspective. The scale of work ranges from small to very large and may be aesthetic or functional.
Students learn how to develop creative spatial awareness which is the link between architecture and styling, together with skills in design theory, space planning and 2D/3D illustration, including model making. Projects are both commercial and domestic, eg restaurants, shops, salons and domestic living spaces.
During the second year, students begin to select areas of particular interest and are encouraged to work with increasing independence of mind.
We help and encourage our students to become as informed and self-supportive as possible in the exploration of their individual creative development. The department is large enough to support the investigation of a broad range of specialist options in our comprehensive and well equipped studios and small enough to help you realise your ambitions at a personal level.
The programme is delivered through practical studio based activity, together with research into contemporary and historical design practice. This National Diploma in 3D Design will help you to fulfil your creative potential in a friendly and supportive environment, whether you want to go into employment or prepare for study at a higher level.

Assessment/Exams
