What will I study?
Students progressing from school will receive an extremely hands on experience of Art, Design and Media and is delivered through a series of practical assignments which are delivered by specialist staff in specialist facilities.

Duration:
One year - full time

Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
This course is part of the Foundation Learning Tier, which means students will also access qualifications in English, Maths and ICT functional skills, and Personal and Social Development. This package of qualifications will ensure students have the opportunity to develop the skills needed to progress into further education, employment or training.

How will I be assessed?
The Course is made up of four core units which everyone takes and two specialist units. These enable you to study particular areas in more depth. All Units are assessed progressively at either pass, merit or distinction and are delivered across a range of Assignments. You must gain at least a pass in each unit in order to pass the qualification and progress.

What can I do afterwards?
Successful students can progress onto the Level 2 First Diploma in Art and Design.

Are there any additional costs involved?
You will need to put aside some money for materials and equipment; typically £150 over the year, which averages out at around £5 per week.

Entry Requirements

Having applied, all selections for a place on the course are by interview during which you will be asked to show a Portfolio of Art, Design and Media work you have produced.
