Course description
This is an exciting Level 1 course in Art, Design and Media. You will develop your skills in communication through drawing, painting and printmaking. You will also get the chance try out new skills using different materials, equipment and technology.
Areas you can develop these skills in are:
Drawing
• Painting
• Printmaking
• Video production
• Animation
• Fashion
• Photography
• Graphic Design
The course will also allow you to progress on to a Level 2 course such as First Diploma and will allow you to develop life and work skills for entry to employment. You will get the chance to find out what your own personal creative strengths are, go on organised trips and celebrate the end of year with an exhibition of your work.
As part of the course you will also have the opportunity to improve your reading, writing and number skills along with life skills that are developed through a â€-Progress Award†. Weekly tutorials will also support your learning.

Final award
On completing the course successfully you will be awarded the Edexcel BTEC Introductory Diploma in Art, Design and Media.

Entry requirements
School records should demonstrate 80% attendance. You will also need a good general education including GCSE grades D-G. You will need to show that you have an interest in a creative subject. You can show this at
your interview by bringing along any work you have done along with any personal achievements from school or that you have obtained independently.
