The â€-real world†contexts give the subject material added relevance and interest and make it particularly suitable for students wishing to pursue careers in nursing, sport science, physiotherapy and biomedical science.
The course examines aspects of the human body in sickness and health and includes topics such as the causes and treatment of deep vein thrombosis and heart disease, the use of stem cell technology and genetic engineering, cancer, infectious disease, aerobic fitness, fertility treatment and the effects of aging.
Learning will involve lectures, group work, practical investigation and resource-based learning through the use of case studies and ICT.

A levels are divided into two courses, AS taken in the first year and A2 in the second year; combined together they equal a full A level. Both the AS and A2 courses comprise 2 units. On the whole, A levels are assessed through formal examinations at the end of the AS programme and then again at the end of the A2 programme. In some practically based subjects there is a coursework component. Both AS and A2 qualifications count towards the requirements for university entrance.
*Students aged 16-18 will not be required to pay the full course fee, in most cases your fee will not exceed £150. Please contact us if you need more information regarding fees for full-time courses.
