· Course Overview: · Develop your creative skills and get the professional know how to enable you to work in the Visual Arts industry, further your existing career or to prepare for passing your knowledge and experience on to others. Developing your professional skills as an artist will include working towards handling commissions, planning and organising exhibitions and selling your own work. A personal development plan will help you to realise your ambitions and reflective practice will give you the critical and professional awareness to work independently. The course includes: Modules combined with specialist studio practice an intensive programme of reflective, critical and developmental activities. Learners produce a Personal Development Plan and undertake reflective exercises that chart their personal, practical and professional development throughout the course. Through seminars and lectures, students explore current critical approaches to fine art practice. Learners attend sessions based around professional awareness and opportunities. A Personal Project, involving a commission or exhibition proposal, is undertaken and towards the end of the year students mount a final exhibition and write a short (2000 words) Reflection upon Practice. By the end of the course, learners should be able to work in an independent, autonomous manner with a critical and professional awareness of the context for their practice. The course is designed as a progression from an HND or relevant Foundation Degree.
