BA Photography Top Up Degree
Flexible and creative use of photographic skills and knowledge requires appreciation of the power of the photographic image as a means of communication and of the need for informed application of images and text if the appropriate message is to be conveyed. Thus specific photographic and design skills and knowledge developed on the BA (Hons) Degree in Photography programme are complemented by modules that develop a critical appreciation of images and the contexts in which they convey meaning. College attendance is in the afternoon and evening, a feature designed to enable students to maintain a sustainable level of part-time employment and facilitate daytime practical photography opportunities.

  • The programme is intended to support the application of photographic techniques successfully and purposefully in the production of creative imagery to a specific commission/assignment. It is structured so that there is continual development in the main subject areas.

    Vocational Relevance:
    Modules of the BA (Hons) Degree in Photography programme focus on developing a creative and flexible approach to the utilisation of skills and knowledge, on fostering initiative, reflexivity and independence as well as the importance of effective teamwork. The emphasis will be on developing the kind of dynamic, multi-skilled and highly motivated self-starter capable of embracing and not just surviving the challenges of the photographic, media and creative industries in the 21st century.

    Work Experience / Practical Experience:
    Work experience, although not an integral part of the programme, is encouraged and students will be assisted, where possible, to find relevant work experience opportunities.
