Course Description
The National Diploma in Photography is an excellent, vocational alternative to A Level Art & Design or Photography if you wish to progress onto University or employment in the creative industries. The 2 year programme will help develop your technical skills in traditional and digital photography, as well as contextual studies and visual communication. The course is also intended to develop your own individual approach to photography, so that in Year 2 you can build a professional, but highly personal portfolio. This course is made up of 18 units, in Year 1 you will cover the core Art & Design units plus four specialist units in Lighting, Studio, Experimental and Location Techniques. You will also follow a Professional Practice Brief in Advertising that will lead to qualifications in Key Skills.

Assessment Methods
All units are graded P (Pass), M (Merit) or D (Distinction). Learners are required to achieve a minimum of a pass grade in each unit to qualify for an overall qualification grade.
Progression
A University qualification such as a Higher National Diploma (HND) or a Degree (or Foundation Degree) can lead you into employment in the creative industries.
