Course description
This is a Level 2 course in art and design. You will develop your drawing abilities and skills. You will explore new materials and processes within design working to set project briefs. Weekly tutorials and visits to exhibitions will support your learning. The following subject areas are studied:
Observational Drawing
• Two-Dimensional Art and Design (including using Photoshop on Apple Macs and printmaking)
• Three-Dimensional Art and Design
• Photography (digital and/ or darkroom based)
• Industry and Contextual Studies.
All students will also study Key Skills.

Final award
On completing the course successfully you will be awarded an Edexcel BTEC First Diploma in Art and Design.

Entry requirements
You will need to show a keen interest in art and design. At interview you will need to present a portfolio of recent work. You will need a minimum of two grade Ds at GCSE, ideally with one of these being a grade C or above in Art and Design, or a related subject (such as Media or Design Technology).
