You are expected to be available to attend college Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm

Course description
The course provides an excellent opportunity for you to combine the theoretical side of sports science with the practical application of that knowledge.

Additionally you will be able to complete the Sports Academy Programmes.

Course Structure
The course is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and understanding of a number of science based units. The course allows for natural progression on to the BTEC National Certificate if sufficient grades are achieved and to future employment in the sport and recreation industries.

  • Research Project in Sport & Exercise Sciences

  • Anatomy for Sport and Exercise


Course Assessment
This course is internally assessed by means of performance observations, assignments, presentations, reports and projects.

Course Entry requirements
  • 5 GCSE A-C to include one or more of the following: Science, Mathematics and English
  • A BTEC First qualification in Sports Studies Science or a related discipline - a minimum of 4 merits
  • For equivalent qualifications see the Entry Requirements Explained page
  • All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an interview
  • All applicants are required to successfully complete a two-week introduction to Sport and Leisure Course


Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old on 31 August 2010. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.

Course Enrichment
Activities such as trips and visits will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities are optional and additional fees will be charged to you. Details will be provided at the time of interview.
