WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
Working in business means you will need to be multi-skilled, from marketing to finance to management. This course will cover theory and practical exercises via assignments and you will spend much of your time working on assignments in a realistic environment to prepare you for the business industry. You will develop the skills you need for future employment or Higher Education.

WHAT DO I NEED?
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
You will need to attend classes for approximately 18 hours per week. In addition, you will need to spend 10 to 15 hours per week on coursework at home or in college. Your assignments will need to be completed by the set deadlines and you will need to attend regularly and punctually.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will study the following subjects for the National Certificate (2 A Levels)

· Exploring Business Activity *
· Investigating Business Resources *
· Introduction to Marketing *
· Effective People, Communication and Information *

· Plus 8 other units

For the National Award (1 A Level), you will study the units marked * plus 2 specialist units.
For the National Diploma (3 A Levels) you will study the units marked * plus 14 other units.
You will be assessed by coursework. There are no examinations.

Where you do not have a GCSE Grade C in Maths and English you will be required to complete level 2 Functional Skills.
On your course you will have a tutorial period, which is designed to support your learning and assist your progress. You will have the opportunity of a residential study experience.
The College is committed to you studying for national qualifications in Maths, English and ICT within your vocational course. This will help you get the most out of your work, education and everyday life.

WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
You will obtain a BTEC National Award (1 A Level) at the end of the first year and/ or a BTEC National Certificate, which is equivalent to 2 A Levels after 2 years. There may be an opportunity to take an additional GCSE. You will also complete a programme of Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
