Course description
This is a two year course supported by periods of industrial placement. It provides the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue careers in competition yards, riding schools,
thoroughbred racing, breeding industry, or within a wide range of ancillary industries.
The National Diploma is one of the most respected courses within the Equine Industry. Abingdon and Witney College has a purpose built equine unit at Commen Leys
Farm. It offers students practical experience within a commercial enterprise.
In addition to a wide range of riding horses you will also have the opportunity to handle foals, young stock and brood mares. The course comprises four core units which all
students study plus a further 14 optional units which allow you to pursue more specialist career paths.
You may keep your own horses at the college stables on working livery if required.

• Stable Skills
• Industry Experience
• Animal Biology
Option Units allow you to develop specialist skills in a variety of areas, for example: equitation, competition grooming, practical stud management, equine rehabilitation and therapy, nutrition, equestrian teaching and behaviour and welfare.

Final award
Edexcel (BTEC) National Diploma in Horse Management. It would also be possible to train for BHS examinations whilst attending the course.

This course is based at Common Leys Farm.
