You would choose this course in order to understand what makes business such a fascinating and exciting field of study and to prepare for a career in the outside world. The course will provide a sound foundation for developing two skills - the skill of managing resources, and the (much more difficult) skill of managing people!

What will I need to follow the course?
You will need 6 GCSEs at grades A-C in order to study AS subjects. You will be expected to have achieved a grade C or above in Mathematics and either Welsh or English. The requirements for adults will be different.

You will study all aspects of business including:

Will I have to sit any examinations?
You will be assessed via coursework and regular homework, and by sitting an examination at the end of the year.

What will I have at the end of the course?
On successful completion of the course, you will have an AS Certificate in Business Studies. You will be able to study the subject for a further year and gain an A level certificate. You will study similar topics but in greater detail.

What next?
You will be able to progress to a HND qualification or university degree in Business Studies. Your career options will be extensive, since you will have mastered many skills relevant to the world of business. You could find work as a Marketing Assistant, Personnel Officer, Bar/Club/Attraction Manager or in the field of law, leisure and tourism, public services or the media. You also have the option of establishing your own business.
