To obtain a place on this course you will need to successfully complete an interview at the college, which will include a written test. All places offered are subject to two professional references and a satisfactory Police Check. You should possess a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D or above, a BTEC Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care or CACHE Caring for Young Children, with at least a Distinction grade overall. The college welcomes applications from mature students who do not necessarily meet our standard academic entry requirements.

What will I study?
You will study a range of units which include looking at child development from birth to 16 as well as planning and implementing activities to carry out with children. During the year you will have mandatory practical work placement training with children within the 0-16 age range. In addition to these modules you will study the Key Skills of Communication, Application of Number and ICT as well as the Wider Key Skills.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed using a range of methods which will include assignments and examinations.

Career Opportunities & Progression
The Level 2 Diploma programme trains and educates you to work in a supervised capacity in Childcare and Education, in a wide variety of settings, for example Primary & Nursery Schools, Day Nurseries, Private Homes, Playgroups, Childminders, Family Centres & Crches and Special Education. You can use the CCLD as a qualification in its own right or as a route to other CACHE awards.
