• Work experience with children under the age of eight years
• Personal and group tutorials

Assessment/Exams
The assessment is by portfolio task for most of the units, the personal development unit is written by your tutor and also a short answer paper under examination conditions, all must receive a minimum of a pass.

Progression/Career Path
The award provides a basis for candidates to progress to other qualifications. A merit or distinction will enable progression to the CACHE Level 2 Award in Childcare and Education. Candidates could also go into employment in a childcare setting.

Entry Requirements
Qualifications Required
No formal requirements. However, a reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy, an ability to benefit from a programme at this level and an appropriate reference will be required.

Additional Entry Criteria
All candidates must have a Criminal Records Bureau check. Two suitable references, one from current school tutor and the second from a childcare professional - ie work experience report.
