- Diagnose and rectify light vehicle engine and component faults
- Diagnose and rectify light vehicle chassis system faults
- Diagnose and rectify auxiliary equipment electrical faults
- Overhaul mechanical units
- Diagnose and rectify light vehicle transmission and driveline system faults
The course is assessed via a combination of examination and continuous assessment.
- Practical assessment workshop tasks measure competence, which is the ability to complete a vehicle related job to a satisfactory standard
- Online examinations that assess underpinning knowledge, the theory of each vehicle system and its related studies
- Phase testing, which are short term time tests (coursework) to ensure one subject is understood before moving to the next topic
Typically, successful leavers will go directly into work within the motor industry at qualified technician status.
