As am intermediate level 2 apprentice, you will carry out routine motorcycle maintenance and inspections including servicing, repairing and replacing faulty parts and maintaining records. On completion of the apprenticeship you will be competent to work as a motorcycle service technician and will be able to undertake the full range of duties, in the range of circumstances appropriate to the job, confidently and competently to the standard set by the industry.

How will I study?

The course is delivered in the college and workplace and comprises: • Level 2 4270-32 Diploma in Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair Competence (C&G) • Level 2 4290-32 Diploma in Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair Principles (C&G) • Functional Skills Maths Level 1 (exempt if Grade A-C in Maths GCSE) • Functional Skills English Level 1 (exempt if Grade A-C in English Language GCSE) • Functional Skills ICT Level 1 (exempt if Grade A-C in ICT GCSE) • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (C&G)
How will I be taught?

You will attend one day at college a week. The course provides you with the underpinning theory knowledge that you will require to put into practice what you have learnt in the workplace. In addition, you will study towards your maths, English & ICT qualifications in college if required to do so. In the workplace, an assessor is allocated to you and the garage and will visit on a regular basis to observe you in the workplace.
How will I be assessed?

You will be allocated a dedicated assessor who will carry out all NVQ assessment in the workplace. The underpinning knowledge (on day release) is assessed through completion of a workbook/portfolio and on-line multiple choice tests. Functional Skills are assessed through on-line tests.
