Course Details
New Diplomas have been introduced by the government to address the skills gap identified by employers and universities and aim to provide an understanding of the creative industry sector. They combine academic study with practical learning and real experience of work. The Diploma will develop your creativity and your belief in your own ability to think, question, explore, plan, create and communicate. Personal, learning and thinking skills, functional skills and work experience are an integral part of the course. It takes the same time to do as three A levels, and is worth 3 and a half A levels. This covers all you need to know about the creative and media sector at the level you?re studying. You'll cover creative processes, alongside conceptual ideas and practical skills. You'll get to try lots of different disciplines like 2D and 3D visual art, graphic design, product design, fashion, textiles, drama, advertising, dance, music, film and lots more, and find out more about the ones that interest you. You can take additional specialist courses in Creative and Media as part of your Diploma. You could learn about digital photography, or sound tecnology if you like music or dance or musical theatre might be your passion. Maybe even choose a subject that you can use to set up your own business for example jewellery design or fashion.
