Course Details

This is an exciting programme from Edexcel, equivalent to 4 GCSE?s grade A-D depending on the final grade you achieve. The course has been developed to provide learners with a combination of theoretical and vocational delivery - the aim is to allow individuals to progress at their own pace towards attaining a range of skills that can be transferred directly across to the industry. The course comprises of seven units, selected to provide a diverse and enjoyable learning experience. Furthermore, it will provide the opportunity to practice industry related production hardware techniques using cutting edge media. Introduction to media industry Introduction to media products and audiences Research for media production Video production Audio production Advertising production Media production project Students intending to join the course must have an interest in media products, film, TV and radio shows, magazines, websites etc. You must also have an ambition to create media products of your own for a wide range of audiences and purposes. If you are successful with your application to this Course you will be working at the Horncastle Building, a diverse environment with the latest production and post production equipment. You will also have access to a Broadcast Standard Radio Studio and TV Studios wher you wil have the opportunity to record and produce audio and video products.

The course will provide the opportunity to work with industry standard techniques and technology. The course may also provide work experience opportunities and the chance to travel to other countries on College visits.

Progression:
With a Merit or Distinction overall, progression is through the BTEC National Diploma Media or equivalent level 3 qualification. The opportunity also exists for progression directly into industry for the right candidate.
