About this course
You will require an Introductory Diploma in Construction or a standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grade G or above or other related level 1 or 2 qualifications. All prospective students will undertake a formal interview and college devised initial assessment in literacy and numeracy.

What will I study?
You will study the following units, which will be classroom and laboratory-based subjects: An Introduction to the Construction Industry; Exploring Health Safety & Welfare in Construction; The Use of Science & Mathematics in Construction; Construction Processes and Operations for Low Rise Domestic Buildings. You will study the following units, which will be practical and workshop based subjects: Performing Joinery Operations and Construction Drawing Techniques. The opportunity to study Auto-Cad in relation to the construction industry and Key Skills at an appropriate level will also be available. For the Welsh Baccalaureate you will explore a wide range of areas including how Wales ?fits in? with Europe and the rest of the world, the health of the nation and how to be enterprising.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a programme of both practical and theory based assignments.
Career Opportunities & Progression
After successful completion of this course you could progress to a level 3 course such as the National Certificate in Construction/Civil Engineering or an Apprenticeship in an appropriate construction trade.
