Course Summary:
The Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement is based on the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) Certificate of Competence Syllabus.

The course will be practically based with emphasis on 'hands-on' use of sound level meters to carry out noise surveys and assessments of noise levels. It will also include demonstrations, graded exercises for delegates, report writing, case studies and tutorials.

The course consists of:

• Basic concepts and Noise Units
• Instrumentation for Environmental Noise Measurement
• Noise Indices and Measurement Methodology for Environmental Noise Measurement
• Environmental Noise Measurement in Practice
• Basic Understanding of Noise Propagation and Control
• Revision and Examinations

All delegates are provided with revision notes and sample assessment in preparation for the IOA Examination and to give everyone maximum opportunity for success in achieving the Certificate of Competence.

The practical test may be taken

• At the college at the end of the course (Friday afternoon), or the morning before the written examination.
