General Overview
For those wishing to study design history with a view to a career, the FdA Antiques and Design: Theory and Practice will provide you with a unique opportunity. This exciting and distinctive programme is designed for those who wish to study Design and Decorative Arts History from both a theoretical and practical viewpoint. Integral to the programme will be access to collections and objects in major institutions and auction houses. This is not only a lecture room based programme as your studies will include work experience, study visits, attendance at trade fairs, and studio workshops which will allow you to understand the properties of materials.

This programme has been written and evaluated with partners from major auction houses, curators from some of the National Trust properties, Harewood House, Temple Newsam and input from the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Bowes Museum. For those wishing to study the FdA Antiques and Design: Theory and Practice, it is the ideal progression route to design history as a career

You will develop skills in object analysis and handling, design history, stylistic recognition, written and verbal evaluation, and specialist knowledge.
