Description:
Film Studies is an in-depth study of the development of the cinema as a major 20th Century art form and communication system. The rise of Hollywood is central to the course, with additional attention being given to 'alternative' forms of cinema. Students are encouraged to investigate areas of cinema which are of particular interest to them. The course content includes production and finance; selling and distribution; film theories and techniques; star system; British cinema animation; documentary; film and censorship; independent cinema; women in cinema; race in cinema; cinema advertising; practical video
