About this course
Normally students 16 - 19 years of age will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C including English Language. Applicants will need to demonstrate an interest in film and cinema. Entry for mature students without formal qualifications is at the discretion of the Faculty

Opportunities to study a wide range of films from various genres and various eras.
Screenplay writing and storyboarding options in Year One
Screenplay writing, film journalism and filmmaking options in year 2
Domestic British product is studied at AS Level. Foreign films are mainly studied at A Level
Opportunities to engage in debate about film censorship, feminism in film, shocking cinema and numerous other related topics.
Ability to apply skills learned for film ?reading? to titles of the students? own choosing.
Career Prospects and Progression
A Levels provide an excellent basis for progression to Higher level qualifications such as degrees or Higher National Diplomas. There are a number of careers directly related to Film Studies including Television Researcher, Journalism, TV and Radio Presenter, Broadcasting Film or Theatre Producer, TV Production Assistant.

Method of Assessment
AS Level Two examinations + Coursework - film readings and screenplay/storyboard. A2 Level Two exams + Coursework - self study project/practical work. NB Coursework is worth 40? of marks.
