The Foundation Degree in Business is focussed on providing individuals with the knowledge and skills relevant to the needs of employers in either the private or public sector. It combines academic and vocational elements which prepare students for progression on to further Higher Education courses or to use the qualification as a stepping stone towards an exciting future career in business. The course can also be used as a pathway towards professional qualifications in law, finance, personnel or marketing.
At Northbrook we use a variety of teaching methods which include lectures, individual and group work, role play and case studies. A work placement element will be agreed at the start of the course.

At the end of the first year the course leader, in discussion with students, selects one of the two elective modules listed below that students study in the final term of year two.

Assessment/Exams
Each module will be assessed by the course tutor through two individual assignments (50%) and a three hour open book examination (50%).

Progression/Career Path
On successful completion of the Foundation Degree, students may progress on to the BA (Hons) Business Administration top up Degree, working in a variety of business environments.
