The Foundation Degree programme has been developed to meet and satisfy an increasing need for a highly trained and skilled workforce within the media industry. The course is offered in conjunction with the University of Glamorgan and will be located within the Media Centre at the Neath Campus of NPTC. Learners will experience a variety of teaching methods including lectures, seminars, practical.

About this course

Learners should be at least 18 years of age and normally possess one of the following:
1 A Level and 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above
BTEC National Diploma/Certificate, Advanced GNVQ or AVCE in a relevant discipline
Access to HE Media Certificate and Access to HE IT
Mature learners without formal qualifications may be considered, subject to interview.

Course Description
The Foundation Degree programme has been developed to meet and satisfy an increasing need for a highly trained and skilled workforce within the media industry. The course is offered in conjunction with the University of Glamorgan and will be located within the Media Centre at the Neath Campus of NPTC. Learners will experience a variety of teaching methods including lectures, seminars, practical production weeks and visits to broadcast and media facilities. Work experience will be arranged and this will support and reinforce academic learning.
The Foundation Degree programme will consist of specified and optional units as follows:
Learners will need to complete 120 Credits per year full-time.

Career Prospects
Successful completion of the programme may lead to employment within the media industry and/or further academic qualifications. It is intended that for suitable learners there will be an opportunity to progress to a further period of study (1 year) to obtain a BA/BSc Degree in a suitable subject area. To achieve this, learners must gain a merit overall.
