Main features

This course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge that can be utilised to gain employment within the fields of veterinary nursing and the animal health industry. The course also incorporates the RCVS professional nursing qualification, meaning that upon completion you will achieve the skills of a registered veterinary nurse as well as those of a Foundation Degree.

Core modules include Veterinary Nursing and First Aid, Anatomy and Physiology and Animal Health. There is also the opportunity to focus your interest in the areas of equine health and disease, wildlife care or large animal management through the selection of options.

The course is structured to include vocational placement blocks so that you can acquire 70-weeks working with registered veterinary practices to gain hands-on experience.

This course will provide you with a good grounding in key subject areas such as husbandry and behaviour, as well as allowing you to tailor the course towards your own area of interest within the field of animal management, for example wildlife or domestic animal management. You will also gain the skills which are adaptable to a range of animal management industries, along with the knowledge necessary to work with a range of species.

The course will include relevant work experience within an RCVS-registered Training Practice, which is supported with assistance from your tutor.

This degree is validated and awarded by Harper Adams University College.
