Hairdressing [Advanced Modern Apprenticeship NVQ] (Level 3)
Course Content
This course builds upon the skills of NVQ Level 2 to acquire additional professional skills in more complex tasks.
There are four mandatory units and five optional units which include:
Provide consultation services;
Style/dress long hair;
Fashion cutting;
Colour correction;
Planning promotional activities;
Hair extensions;
Health and Safety;
Promote products/services to clients.
Modern Apprentices will complete a technical certificate which involves learning employer's rights and responsibilities and organisational rules.
Teaching/Assessment
The course covers a range of units along with written assignments. A variety of practical assessments will be carried out. A portfolio of evidence will be produced.
We aim to provide a vibrant approach with guest speakers, competitions, demonstrations and interesting salon training.
This is a work based course that involves spending one day a week at the college.
Progression
NVQ at level 4 (to be developed by Hairdressing Training Board) Management, Further Education Teaching Certificate Cert Ed- Certificate of Education or P.G.C.E.
