Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) NVQ Level 1 Hairdressing Certificate is a nationally recognised qualification.

Modules
Students will be given expert theory and practical tuition in the following mandatory units: Unit G20: Make sure your own actions reduce risks to Health & Safety Unit G3: Contribute to the development of effective working relationships Unit GH1: Shampoo and condition hair Unit GH4: Assist with hair colour services Unit GH3: Prepare for hairdressing services and maintain work areas Unit GH2: Blow dry hair

Entry Requirements
The course requires two GCSEs (English and Maths) at grade D or above. All applicants will be interviewed.

Additional Costs
Costs are accurate at the time of printing, but may be subject to amendment: Tuition Heads (£89.12), Kit (£124.39 approx), Black Tunic (£28.00) + Trousers (£24.50 approx). Recommended text book (£20.00 approx). There will be an additional cost for trips and activities throughout the year of £60.00 which will be paid at the beginning of the year.

Course Content
The course follows a carefully designed programme covering all the skills involved in assisting in the hairdressing salon. Students will assist NVQ Level 2 students in the In Vogue Salon, which operates as a commercial business with students working on members of the public. The length of the course will vary with each individual student, and will be dependent upon progress, e.g. students may be able to progress onto NVQ Level 2 in the second term or may need the full year to complete. During the course there will be enrichment activities, for example, a visit to Salon International in London, and an ear piercing course.
