This course is for students who have an interest in studying the past. The qualification is appropriate for those who enjoy reading, writing and discussion.
What will I be learning?
In this subject of History you will be introduced to a varied programme. You will study Britain from 1483-1529 and specifically the rise of the Tudors; Anti-Semitism, Hitler and the German people. 1919-1945; The Triumph of Elizabeth, Historical enquiry and The War of the Roses 1377-1487.
This qualification will help you to organise and express ideas effectively through reading, writing, discussion and debate as well as develop critical skills through the study of a range of primary and secondary sources of evidence.
Assessment will be by exam and essay and you will be required to buy all relevant materials.
How will I learn?
Classroom based lessons with appropriate notes, group work, presentations and individual research assignments. Weekly homework assignments including essays and other forms of assessment are set and form an important part of reviewing your progress. You will also be expected to use ?Moodle? and complete outside class reading.
What else might I want to know?
Assessment will be a combination of examinations and essays. You need to purchase the two course textbooks.
We are intending to go on educational trips.
What can I do afterwards?
It is recommended that you then complete A2 History. The skills you learn are transferable and useful in the workplace.
