Aims:
This course is designed to provide the opportunity to further develop knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to the theory and practice of working with people and counselling within an encouraging and supportive environment.
Duration:
1 Year Full time August to June. May be offered on a part time basis depending on applicant numbers.

. Graded Unit
. Group Counselling Skills
. Humanistic Counselling Theory
. Loss, Grief and Bereavement
. Psychodynamic Counselling Theory
. Stage 1 of the 3 Stage Integrative Model
. Stage 2 of the 3 Stage Integrative Model
. Stage 3 of the 3 Stage Integrative Model
. Understanding Addictive Behaviours
. Working with Addictive Behaviours
. Working with Substance Abuse
Non-assessed Placement: 2 days per week within a helping agency or
organisation that allows for the supervised practice of counselling
skills. Student membership of BACP is encouraged during the
course.
Careers:
The HNC may lead to work within an agency or organisation where counselling skills are required, or progression to further study in counselling or psychology.
