Description:
A BTEC First Diploma is a practical course equivalent to four GCSEs at grades A* to C. You will study core units in industry experience and industry and organisations, plus four specialist units in horse behaviour and welfare, handling and exercise, care and riding.

The course is made up of 3 core units:
· introduction to Horse Care
· horse industry and organisations
· work experience

There are also 6 specialist units:

· horse behaviour and welfare
· introduction to animal and plant biology
· practical landbased skills
· horse handling and exercise
· horse preparation and presentation
· riding horses

Progression:
Study for a National Certificate in a similar subject or find work with horses.

Entry Requirements:
Good experience of riding and caring for horses. 4 GCSEs at grade D or E, or introductory Diploma.
