Intro Diploma in Art, Design & Media Introductory Diploma
Provides school leavers with a route into the Art, Design and Media fields and progression to a Level 2 course. Skills are most acquired through studio or workshop sessions. Please note that this course has been developed principally for 16-19 year old applicants and is therefore not ideally suited to mature students. Suitable alternatives for mature students include Portfolio Development in Art & Design or the Foundation Degree in Fine Art, both of which are offered by the College.

Course Content:

  • Contextual and media studies

    Communication and number skills are integrated into the study programme.

    Attendance Requirements:
    Full-time. Details regarding expected course timetable and attendance will be given at interview, if available.

    Entry Requirements:
    • Applicants will normally hold GCSEs at levels E and F or an Entry Certificate in Skills for Working Life or an equivalent qualification

      Entry Process:
      All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor, allowing you to find out more and check that the course is the best option for you. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.

      Assessment:
      Assessment is through coursework. You will build up a portfolio which can be used to progress onto other more specialised courses.

      Progression Routes:
      Upon successful completion students may progress to the BTEC First Diploma in Art & Design and/or BTEC National Diplomas in Graphic Design, Fine Art, Media and Photography.

      Career Options:
      With further study a career in a creative environment may be possible.
